About Us

The RIT College Democrats currently meet in room A055 in the Gleason residence hall every Wednesday at 8:00pm. Meetings are typically 1 hour long.

Current Leadership

The current Executive Board was elected on May 14th 2008 and consists of:

  • President: Frank Sciremammano
  • Vice President: Caity Carter
  • Treasurer: Ryan O’Hearn
  • Secretary: Jenny Heath
  • Advisor: Professor Ann Howard

Club History

The RIT College Democrats have existed since 2004 when it formed primarily in support of John Kerry’s bid for the presidency and also Samara Barand’s unsuccessful campaign in the NY-29th. Originally founded by Joe Pawelski the club essentially laid dormant after the 2004 election before being revived by former member James Turk and freshman Jenny Heath.

In 2006 the club found new energy supporting the landslide election of Eliot Spitzer and the close race in the NY-29th this time with Eric Massa leading the charge against incumbent Randy Kuhl.

2008 is shaping up to be the best year ever for the club with an exciting Democratic presidential primary, Eric Massa gearing up for another bid at Rep. Kuhl’s seat, and what is looking to be a formative year for the Democratic Party nationwide.
